- Dining: Be prepared for high prices and mandatory service charges. If you want to save on dining costs, try finding other places on Google Maps that aren’t on the main streets.
- Souvenirs: We thought buying souvenirs at the airport would be much cheaper. It’s not. You’ll pay around €30 for a small box of Turkish shit. And small indeed. Buy souvenirs in the city, the airport is extremely expensive.
- Time: Visit popular sights like the Blue Mosque early in the morning to avoid prayer times.
- Budget: Allocate a generous budget for dining and attractions, as prices for tourists can be significantly higher. Be careful when looking at ticket prices. There is a separate fee for tourists (locals have a much lower fee).
- Currency: We came back with all our unspent euro notes. That’s because they only accepted Turkish lira or cards.
